| --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ‡ Dining Room ‡--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entering through the western wall of the living room, one reaches the dining room, where the carpet stops and wooden floors begin. [When the house was remodeled, the carpets and wooden floors of the original house were kept mainly in place, but a few places, such as the kitchen and foyer, were floored with tile for convenience] The dining room is much the same as it was before the fire happened, modeled in a "French Country" style similar to the living room, although the furniture is much less updated. Three wide windows let in ample light to the room, and a small glass chandelier provides the rest of the light. A light, wooden table is the centerpiece of the room, with elegant dining chairs lined along all sides. It can easily fit up to ten people. An old china cabinet rests against the southern wall [the western wall of the living room], and a smaller decorative table against the farther western wall, holding a flower vase and two candle sticks that match the stands on the main dining table. The northern wall opens into a small interval of tile that leads to the kitchen, the family room, and the original large area under the foyer staircase. | |
