Guest Bedroom

Valerie arrived at her household. Rosaline cradled delicately in her arms, she carried her quietly up the stairs enough so that not a single sound would be made at the applied pressure on each step. Around the corner was a guestroom which was rather small compared to modern houses though it was warm and cozy. Gently she tucked Rosaline into the bed with Roral positioned directly next to her.Allowing herself to sit on the edge of the bed to softly hum a welsh lullaby she had sung years ago to the children she cared for while their parents were out and about. As the crooning tune came to an end, she stood up.Though not before giving the child a kiss on the forehead as she began to walk out the doorway."Get some rest little one." she murmured softly. "i'll bring you some supper when you awake." With that being said, she left the small lamps on though turned the main light off. Leaving warm glows big enough to cast away the darkness that usually filled the room. She left with one last glance back before shutting the door, leaving it an inch open as she started to head back down the stairs.

Rosaline lay still in the bed, her arm finding its way around Roral in her sleep, not even stirring from the kiss on the forehead. Though of course soon she was a bit like a mess. Like she normally ended up doing at some point in her sleep she ended up rolling all around, the doll held tightly to herself. She gave off odd whimpers and muttered queer things. It was obvious though that she was still asleep. Through her dreaming and nightmares she moved around and muttered. It was normal for her, except that she seemed to have a bit of a fever.

The sound of whimpering rang clearly through the silent cabin like home. It was almost odd for Valerie to hear another presence in the household since it has been so long that another person has been here. Though the thought was quickly banished to back of her mind and her next objective and actions were headed up the stairs and pushing open the door to the guestroom to check on the temporary residence. Before her, the small girl tossed and turned restlessly in bed. Mumbling and giving soft cries that rumbled from her throat. Valerie was by her side in an instant, her expression softened into that of genuine concern. Instinctively, she sat once again along the edge gently and carefully gathering Rosaline in her arms; rocking her in slow, rhythmic motions that flowed evenly with the tune that she hummed.

During her attempts to soothe Rosaline as she slept, Valerie immediately realized the slight increase of the girl's body temperature and flinched visibly as she recognized the mild fever. She decided to wait until her young guest awoke before doing anything further.

Rosaline groaned, keeping her doll in her arms as she was scooped up. She moved around in Valerie's arms some, pushing against her slightly as she mumbled some more before finally stilling a bit. Her head turned to the side so her face was towards Valerie and her eyebrows furrowed. She laid that way a few moments, making a few whimpers and such hear and there before finally falling silent. Her expression softened up a bit, her eyebrows returning to their normal position on her face. Slowly her eyes opened up and the two mismatched things looked up towards the person holding her. Finding Valerie there she seemed to relax a bit more, a silent bit of relief spreading over her, though the fever remained.

She slowly closed her eyes back up and turned her head once more so her face was towards Valerie.

Her humming never faltered once, delicately brushing the tips of her fingers along Rosaline's cheeks tenderly with icy orbs softened to resemble the endless stretch of the clear morning sky. To cool her temperature, Valerie lowered the natural heat in her body before taking out a knife that she had concealed in the folds of her skirt. In a swift motion without a single flinching motion of her body, her wrist was slit and a thick crimson substance leaked out, Letting the few drops of blood fall into the open mouth of the child as a whimper escaped her parted lips. The healing properties within her blood would be enough to bring down the girls fever and nullify the coughing so she could get through the night without anymore problems.Already the wound on her wrist was closing, becoming nothing more than a thin white scratch before disappearing completely.

At the taste of the blood Rosaline's eyes immediately opened once more. The pupils slitting and the irises slowly turning a pale red color, resembling that of a reptile. She looked up at Valerie and covered her mouth where there were sharpening teeth. She just stared at her, remaining still with her hands over her mouth. Slowly the color of her eyes changed back to the mismatched blues, followed by her pupils widening back up to normal. She removed her hands from over her mouth and turned her head to the side before closing her eyes up once more. She wasn't asleep, just laying calm in Valerie's arms.

Valerie smiled a little, not minding the slight reaction to her blood kicking in as well as the affect it had on her. It must have been an instinctual response. She hummed softly, rocking the petite frame gently as she quietly asked."Would you care for something to eat and drink little one?" The softened glance, warm and content as a pale orange glow reflected from the silver like locks of her hair that cascaded across the side of her face. The fact that Rosaline was comfortable and at peace made all tension and worry melt away from her muscles.

Rosaline was quiet a moment before reopening her eyes to look up at Valerie, remaining silent a moment longer. She nodded her head before speaking softly, "Yes please...." She slowly sat up and moved herself so her arms were around Valerie's neck as she laid her head on her shoulder. She looked up at her face, now quiet once more. She was reminded of her old butler and father figure by the way that Valerie cared for her.
