The door to the living room slowly opened, though no lights shining into the apartment since it was completely dark outside; as well as in the living room itself. Slowly Virtue stepped into the apartment, still holding Mist's hand while leading her inside and closing the door behind her, so she wouldn't have eto go through the trouble. There was a table, a chair and a couch, of course also a stair which would lead upstairs where other rooms are located. Virtue moved his hand across the wall, searching for a light switch; and when he eventually found one, the living room was shining brightly, revealing all of the furniture standing inside of it. Slowly he released Mist's hand and looked at her while doing so.

"Make yourself at home." He said with a smile, letting her choose where to sit. He himself would sit on the couch; the most comfortable place in the living room. He made some space for Mist to sit down there as well in case she wanted to. Next to the couch were two lamps.

Slowly the door to the living room swung open, and Emily peeked her head in, looking around as if to make sure this was in fact her home. With a quiet sigh of relief she stepped into the small room that had been decorated with much of the color red. Looking around the room, she realized it had been a long time since the last time she'd been there. Looking back at Zerk she blinked, not really knowing what to say, though she was a little out of breath after the long walk they'd made through the fields. "Uhm...this is it." she mumbled, looking around the room once more. "It isn't much, really..." Gesturing towards the couch she urged the other to take a seat "P-please sit down and rest..."She disappeared into the next room, returning a moment later with towels for the both of them. They'd been rained on, which was a shame since they'd almost made it back in time.

Zerk stepped into the living room, his bare feet making a squishy sound against the surface of the floor. He took careful steps as he walked in, as to not slip, and closed the door behind him. "Quite better than what i'm use to." he told her. He was getting the impression that she didn't want to disappoint him with the condition of the house, but he found it quite appealing. Red happened to be one of Zerk's more favorable colors.
He mad his way to the couch, where he set her bag, then sat on the floor just in front of the couch with his legs crossed. It didn't make much sense to sit on a perfectly dry couch while dripping water everywhere. Once seated, he took the time to look around the place, his mind lingering on when the rain would stop.

She walked over to the other, gently placing the towel over his head with a light smile. "Dry off...so you don't get cold." she knew the other wouldn't get sick, but it was possible for him to get cold, yes? Putting her own towel over her head she dried her short hair, shutting her eyes tightly as she did so. Once she deemed her hair dry enough she opened her eyes, leaving the towel to be set upon his head. Suddenly there was an awkward silence as she stood there, looking down at the other. She'd never had anyone come into her house before...but then again, she'd never really spoken to anyone directly since she'd gotten here, either. "Uhm...." she looked around nervously, wondering what to say. Then she remembered her brother and how he used to treat their guests back at home. Oh that's right...what would...big brother do? She thought, turning her face to look back down at the other, putting on another one of her soft smiles. "W-would you...like some tea?"

Zerk chuckled at her playfulness and reached up to the towel to dry his hair. His eyes closed as he rubbed his hair down, taking just as much time as she did. They both had just about the same amount of hair, it seemed. "That would be lovely." he said to her, and put the wet towel onto his lap. His right hand clenched into a fist and behind closed eyelids, blood-red eyes began to glow. Respecting her request as to not show her such a thing again, he kept them this way until after he was done.
His body began to heat itself, far past a normal temperature for a being of his stature. The surface of his skin had now become too hot for a human to touch him without becoming seriously hurt. A small cloud of steam could be seen rising from him as he boiled all the water from his body, and dried his clothes to an extent.
With his body now dry, he opened his eyes to show his now calmer eyes, though they were no longer gray anymore. They maintained a red color, though it was so dark it would have appeared black at first glance.
With his fist unclenching now, he gave a look in Emily's direction to see if she had gone off to the kitchen yet.

She nodded quickly going into the kitchen to make the two of them some tea. It wasn't long before she returned from the kitchen with two cups of tea set upon a small tray. Upon entering the room she realized how warm the air had become, curiously looking towards the other. Walking over to him slowly she took her seat in front of him, gently setting the tray and the tea down. She'd also brought a plate of cookies for them to snack on white they warmed up with the tea. Looking up at the other she felt slightly concerned, not really sure what had happened, but having a feeling that something did, indeed, happen while she was gone. She looked up into his face, tilting her head slightly as her lips parted so she could speak "Are you...feeling okay, Zerk?"

Zerk rolled his shoulders in order to loosen his shirt, which was sticking to his skin. He believed it had shrunk a half-size or so from that drying he had just given it. He moved his eyes from where the kitchen was so that he could look at Emily as he spoke to her. "Yes, im fine." he nodded, closing his eyes simultaneously and giving a slightly cheeky smile. His fangs had completely gone away at this point. "Thank you." Zerk chirped while his hand reached down to a tea cup, bringing it to his lips without worrying about burning his mouth. Though she didn't know it, he was immune to most variations of burning, whether it be from a liquid, a hot surface, or overheated atmosphere.
After a moment he placed the cup back onto the tray, with just under half of its contents remaining. The tea had helped put him at ease, just as any hot beverage did. With a shallow, relieved-like sigh, he pressed his back onto the couch behind him. "That's quite good" he added, opening his eyes once more to gaze in Emily's eyes.

"Oh...alright." she muttered, gently reaching over to brush her fingers against his sleeve. It was a brave thing for her to do, but curiosity often got the best of her. "You're dry..." Giving the other a questioning look she drew her hand back slowly. "How did you do that?" She watched as he put his cup to his lips, eyes widening slightly. Her lips parted, about to warn him that the beverage was hot, but her words got caught in her throat as she watched the other drink the tea down easily. Pursing her lips, her eyes followed the cup as it was set down, staring into it with curious eyes. "And...how did you do...that?" She asked. Hearing the compliment, she looked up at him "Th-thank you..." she paused, glancing back down into the cup and then back up at Zerk "There's more in the kitchen...if you'd like..."

Zerk twitched as she reached out for him again and made contact with him. He could tell she was getting comfortable, but even these small gestures surprised him."I'm fine for now, thanks." he said, his thumb wiping the corner of his mouth gently. He kept his eyes on her, though they began to close a bit. "I am immune to heat, and i can also generate it in the forms of flames and radiation..." he explained with a dull voice. He had explained it a thousand times to others who questioned it, though most were killed just after his explanation. He felt most at least deserved to know how they were put on their knees, as well as the name of the person who did them in.
"Getting comfortable i see." he mumbled, referring to her gestures made just a moment ago, and trying to change the subject at the same time. He chuckled at her playfully and pushed his back against the couch so it moved, scooting farther away from her. The words "That might be dangerous for you" slipped from his lips in a groan as he looked at Emily teasingly. He had no intentions at this point, no reason for doing this, he was more testing the waters once more to see how much had changed since their meet.

"Oh~" She was fairly interested in these unique abilities the other had. But by the way he'd changed the subject she could tell he wasn't all that interested in talking more about them. Taking the hind she pushed her questions aside, deciding it would be best to respect his feelings and not pester him about them. She blinked at his comment, a bit of pink coming to her cheeks as she averted her eyes elsewhere. "I'm sorry..." She mumbled, delicate fingers running through her short black hair absentmindedly. "It's just...it's the first time I've been..." She paused, looking for the correct word to explain herself. "...around other people and not been so...uhm...s-scared?" She blinked. "It might be...dangerous for...me?" she repeated his words, and oddly didn't feel all that fearful. She paused, picking up a cookie from the tray before looking back up at him. "...Why?"

Zerk noticed Emily's interest in his powers and tilted his head, slouching a bit at the same time. He was still getting use to how she was getting use to all of this. His powers were nothing special to him, and he rarely used them. He hadn't been in a battle for weeks now and mostly kept to himself. Tossing that thought aside, he reached for his cup again and took it into his palm, positioning his hand so he gripped the bottom of it. "Heh, ignore that comment i made, the dangerous one."
After applying a bit of heat onto the cup, he downed the rest of the tea, setting the cup back where it had previously been. "...and don't apologize, it's a good thing, i suppose." Zerk mentioned, sitting back up straight."But, exactly how comfortable are you?" he questioned out of curiosity.

She nodded slowly when told to forget about the certain comment. Nibbling on her cookie lightly, she thought about his question. The truth was, she herself wasn't sure, it had been a while since she'd interacted with anyone, and she was still trying to decide whether she could trust him completely, yet. But at least the tension between them had cleared. "Comfortable enough to let you walk me home and offer you a cup of tea." she said finally, giving a gentle shrug of her shoulders, a small crooked smile coming to her lips. Taking her cup of tea, which was now warm, she took a sip, sighing in content once she'd finished. "Uhm..." she tried to make conversation, wracking her brains for something to ask or say or...anything to break the silence. "...H-how did you...get here...to this place?" She asked, her fingers beginning to fidget as she sat.

Zerk gave her a sarcastic, smug look and held back a chuckle. It was an acceptable answer. He watched her eat the cookie that she had brought in, having had forgotten about them, and wondered what it tasted like. He wasn't one to eat things for leisure, mainly just for necessity. To her question, he pondered for a moment, his fingers tapping on the floor under him. "I walked through a black portal, which conveniently saved my life." he said, licking his upper lip where the taste of the tea still lingered. He was having trouble thinking of exactly what happened before he went through the portal he mentioned, but he could recall why he was there. His eyes pulled away from her, then closed in the remembrance of those events. "A war..."

"Ah I see..." She let her eyes drop to the floor, staring blankly for a moment as she thought. The air wasn't as uncomfortable as it was before, just quiet now. "...I'm sorry you were at war, Zerk..." she said quietly, but loud enough for the other to hear. "...My father was in the war, and even though he'd come home after it had ended, he was much quieter than before." She spoke without emotion in her voice as she recalled her own past, letting the pictures run through her mind of the days before she'd come here. "He told my brother and I many stories..." she seemed to trail off at that, her eyes going back to stare into the other's face as her head tilted slightly to the side. "Zerk..." she called out to him "...at war...were you scared...?"

As he heard of her father, his eyes opened and gazed at her. She also mentioned a brother, which made him think of how she must really feel to be here. Away from her family and thrown into a world with limited rules and beings thousands of times more powerful than she was. It made Zerk's stomach churn.
Her question to him, well, he had been asked this many times by the people in the war. There would always be the newcomer who looked up to him, asking 'Aren't you afraid?' or something along those lines. Just as he told them, he said "I...enjoyed it." to her, then looked from her eyes to stare over her shoulder, at the wall. The act of killing was the most adrenaline-pumping thing Zerk could possibly think of. The idea of being paid to do such a thing with near infinite amounts of victims in his path was a dream come true...but he knew what a girl like Emily would think if she knew the other side of him. He'd most likely never get into much detail of his past with her.
"It's complicated."

His answer confused her, and she couldn't help but ponder upon it. She studied the other's expression, trying to find an answer to a few of her own questions. "You must be a very brave person then..." she said, her head bowing slightly. She gave a light sigh, picking up yet another cookie. "The stories my father told us always frightened me, though I'm sure it's because I was young..." she shrugged her shoulders, "Then again, who knows. I'm pretty much afraid of everything these days..." She frowned lightly, her expression hidden from the other as her head remained bowed for a few moments as she thought. "...But..." she looked up at the other, the light frown still there, but for a different reason. She was trying to gather enough courage to say her next statement. "...I'm glad you ended up here in the end..." she mumbled finally. She felt she needed to tell him that. After all, he was the one who was going to help her get used to a few things around here, and he'd even said he'd help her get used to speaking to people. So she had to say something to show off her gratitude...even if her words didn't come out the way she wanted them to.

To himself being called brave, he shook his head and showed an awkward smile. That word was not meant for him, not at all. "Brave? More like, too crazy to think of consequences. Stupid suits me better." he said, in all honesty. Being called brave made him sound like a hero of some sort, though he never killed for the right reasons. They always held some ill intent. He watched her expression morph to a sad one and frowned slightly at it. After her last statement, his frown was nudged away by a smile he had been trying to hold back. "Mm..." he hummed, not sure how to address her words. He then sat up straight again. His hands reached out about a foot from his body and he looked from them, to her. "C'mere." Zerk said, a smidgen of shyness in his voice. He wanted to take the frown off her face, and to get her in a better mood, by some means.

She blinked, looking up at him as he reached out, calling her to him. She felt hesitant to do so, looking down at herself, her clothes still damp from the rain, the wet towel she'd used to dry off her hair, still hanging around her shoulders. "But I'm...I'm wet..." she said mumbled, making an excuse for herself. "And you're dry..." she looked up at him with a uncertain eyes. "And..." Her voice trailed off, and again she looked down at her damp clothes. Mn...perhaps it's time to stop making excuses...? She thought, eyes still glued to the floor. Something felt wrong about it, now. Every excuse she tried to make up in her head, seemed so pathetic. Letting out a shaky sigh she gently pushed the tray to the side so that it would be out of her way. Still on her knees she slowly moved over to him, small hands placing themselves on his arms, gently pushing them downwards to that they would rest on his knees. Her hands moved from his arms to grasp his hands gently. "...I've never been this close to anyone, really..." she told him, keeping her head bowed so that she wouldn't have to look at him. It would be too embarrassing to do so. "Only my big brother." She said, her voice shaking slightly. Though she wasn't in his lap yet, she was quite afraid of taking such a big step. "...Uhm...you have to make me a promise...before I can trust you..." she muttered, her hands shaking a bit inside of his. "...is that alright?"

Emily's reference to her big brother made him think a moment. He knew what he signed up for when he took her in under his wing, but he never thought of it in a way of her being a brother to her. He couldn't quite tell if he wanted that or not. "Of course. What is it?" he asked, his fingers closing around her hands gently. He felt the need to warm himself for her sake. It would possibly make him more inviting to her, since her clothes were wet. She would surely catch a cold if something wasn't done about it.
From that thought, a string of newer ones emerged, some more enticing than others, though he still couldn't figure if he really wanted any of these things. His usual self would act without thinking, never regretting the consequences, but with Emily he couldn't do that. She was different.

Hesitantly she looked up at him, a soft expression on her face, but a firm look held in her eyes. "...You have to promise me you won't die." She knew a promise like that, wasn't reasonable at all, but something told her that even just hearing someone agree to that promise would put her at ease. Even if it was a lie. Once again she bowed her head, eyes averting to the left. "I know it's troublesome for me to ask you something like this..." Her eyes narrowed at the warmth of his hands and absentmindedly she leaned forward a bit, tempted by the warmth emitting from his body. "But...I can't let myself get close to you unless you promise that." She mumbled, a light sigh leaving her lips. She was being so unfair...but the walls she'd built around herself were still strong, despite her past few actions. And they wouldn't let this kind, gentle stranger through until she'd convinced herself that he wouldn't disappear like everyone else in her life seemed to do.

While Zerk found her request to be an odd one, he could understand why she would want to hear such a thing. Taking a chance of letting someone in is a hard thing to do, and once they are there, it's hard to imagine being without them. He had experienced something like that a very long time ago, but time had managed to rid him of those memories.
He smiled delicately and took a more firm hold of her hands to move them to his shoulders. With his own hands free now, he raised his right to her cheek, fingers pressed lightly on her skin, and his thumb under her jaw so he could tilt Emily's head up. His left found its way to her back, just under her shoulder blades. It made a fist, crumbling up some of the back of her shirt into his hand. "I promise. I won't die on you." Zerk whispered in a firm tone, emitting a bit more warmth from his body. He could feel a cold aura around her coming from her clothes and skin. She would definitely catch something if she stayed like this a while.

She let her hands remain on his shoulders where he had placed them, but her head remained bowed. It was only until she felt the brush of his fingers against her cheek, and the gentle nudge that tilted her chin up, did she look the other in the face. The hand on her back made her tense slightly, but it wasn't long before she was relaxed once more. His words meant almost the world to her. Hearing them made her smile with gratitude. "Thank you." She said, unable to keep staring into his eyes due to the embarrassment she felt. With the small still on her face, she looked away, eyes narrowing lightly at the warmth tempted her as it emitted from the other's body. Her eyes narrowed a bit, and she found herself hesitantly leaning in towards the heat. It wasn't long before her forehead had touched his chest, her eyes closing now. "Mm...you're quite warm..." she muttered a content sigh leaving her lips. "Is it alright if...I...stay like this for a moment...?" she asked, her hands gripping his shoulders lightly. "...I'm afraid I'm beginning to feel a bit faint...heh..." She breathed in slowly, enjoying the warmth of the other's chest "...Sorry for troubling you like this..." She had yet to climb into his lap, still a bit hesitant, though the warmth was truly tempting her to make herself at home there. "...I don't want...to make you wet again..." she muttered. There she was again, making more excuses for her self.

Zerks face was beginning to redden not only from heating his body, but from Emily's actions as well. "Make yourself comfortable." he said, closing his eyes and enjoying the comfort he was in. He couldn't remember the last time he had been so comfortable with another person. "Feel free to faint, haha." he chuckled, his fingers on her back moving to her side a bit to tickle it. "I'll catch you." he whispered into her ear. As she was bent over, he noticed how baggy her clothing was, which wouldn't have helped anything since they were soaked. Not to mention, she kept worrying about getting him wet. "If getting me wet is bothering you so much..." he said, still whispering to her. His hand at her side moved to her own shoulder, just as she was holding him. Zerk's right hand had slipped off into his lap a moment after Emily had thanked him. As he readied to make his suggestion, the fingers at her shoulders curled around the clothing there and tugged on it, so it came off her shoulder. "...why not just remove these things?" he said. While his intentions still remained pure, in wanting to avoid her catching a cold, the everlasting temptation to press further still lingered.

A light giggle let her lips as the other tickled her side, making her shift slightly. "I'm heavier than I look, you know..." she joked "You may not be able to catch me after all." She felt totally at ease sitting there, enjoying the heat that surrounded her as she sit there leaning up against the other. She'd never dreamed in a million years that she'd ever be comfortable around another person other than her brother...and yet here she was. It was strange to her, and yet, not that strange at all. A confusing feeling no doubt. But she couldn't be bothered to think about that now...she was so tired. Her energy returned to her though at the other's suggestion to remove her clothes. Sitting up suddenly she looked over at the other with wide eyes, face flushed. "Wh-wh-what are you suggesting?!!!" she exclaimed hugging herself protectively. "I-I-I can't take my clothes off!" She pointed a finger "Y-you're a man! A-and it..." she paused her voice lowering a bit "...could be dangerous..." She'd been warned plenty of times by her brother about 'bad men' out there in the world, and though she didn't think Zerk was one of those men, you could never really be too careful.
