Leisurely, the green-eyed female dragged up the two luggage cases into the bedroom, looking around the pre-designed room with an impressed gaze. Without taking the luxury to lie down and blow off her ‘chores’, Victoria unlatched the two cases and began to set everything in its rightful spot; dresses, shoes, and shirts in the closet, jeans in two drawers and underwear and bras in another, respectively of course. After about an hour of meticulously organizing her newly bought clothes, the ringing of a bell came closer and louder towards the bedroom. As the sound become clear, a house cat sauntered over to curl and purr against its owner, easily slipping itself into the crook of her arm to rest its head against her chest.

“Vous etes la raison pour laquelle j’adore les chats~” She crooned in a lively, French tongue to her feline friend – whom answered with a purr and a flick of its tail – as she stood up and took a stroll around her new bedroom. A simple monotone with splashes of vibrant colors here and there; such as a red vase and an orange picture frame. Something was missing though.

“Que pensez-vous, Zobel ?” Victoria asked the cat as her envy-green irises stared in the sky blue eyes of her companion. With an idle touch, her fingertips began to massage and scratch underneath Zobel’s chin with gentle strokes as she finally ceased her padding around to sit on the edge of her asymmetrically striped bed, her eyes still attentive to the new surroundings. Releasing Zobel from her cradled arms to stand up and maneuver into the bathroom, his body curled and flopped on the bed as his feet quickly took him scurrying towards the window. Just as Zobel’s paw outstretched to scratch at the glass – akin to what a dog would do –, Victoria shot a glare a hushed word in French; clearly, the cat understood as he recoiled underneath the bed.

That’s what was missing! A shower! With a laugh, Victoria ambled into the bathroom, stripping off her clothes one by one and tossing them all aside as she walked to the shower. Reaching the enclosed space that was transparent glass, she glided in and adjusted the water to a hot temperature, enough to fog up the glass and humidify the bathroom. Taking her sweet time, Victoria cleaned off her entire body with a honey-scented soap, the feeling of beads of water trickling down her face, neck, and legs simply gratifying. Shutting off the water after washing out her hair thoroughly, green eyes scoured the cabinet directly behind the shower for a towel. Snagging one in her hands, she wrapped it around her body and stepped out with a content sigh and a grin. Showers always lifted her… ‘spirit’.

As Victoria ran the towel over her moist skin, the texture of the towel was fine and soothing almost. Picking up her shreds of discarded clothing and tossing them into a basket for linen and clothes, Victoria stepped back into her bedroom and changed into a matching pair of dark green undergarments, black jean shorts, and a white polo. Feeling a wave of laziness surge over her, Victoria fell back into a chaise longue that was opposite her bed and her fingers began to comb through her silken black tresses. As Zobel began to wail, Victoria sat up and sauntered over to scoop up her pet into her arms, nuzzling her nose into its cheeks as its yowls turned into muffled purrs. “Chut, chut, peu Zobel~” She spoke affectionately to the cat as its eyelids slowly closed and its head plopped softly against Victoria’s chest.

Why did Victoria only speak to Zobel in a French tongue? Because Alice, Zobel’s deceased owner and Victoria’s sister, spoke to the animal in only a tongue. So, because she could, she would. Caressing the cat’s fur with her nails in long, smooth strokes, the girl led herself and her pet to the bed, where she laid him down atop his special pillow; a black, silken pillow with a “Z” embroidered on the left-hand corner. The pillow was made by Alice’s hands, so it was a treasure to both Zobel and Victoria. After settling the sable feline into bed, Victoria started for the door to her bedroom, heading downstairs to explore more of the apartment that belonged to both her and Andrew.
